On-line meetings of the Committee
On-line meetings of the Committee were held on 27 and 29 of April, 2022. Progress on the preparation of the Report on mineralogical sciences in Poland was discussed. The Report will include bibliometric analysis of Polish mineralogists as well as examples of their major achievements and grant activities. The Commission on Polish names of minerals is finalizing their work. The rules on naming minerals in Polish were agreed and the list of Polish names of 5775 minerals was prepared. The Commission after verification of the list will submit it for approval by all members of the Committee. The list will be available at web pages of the Committee of the Mineralogical Sciences PAS and Polish Mineralogical Society.
The Committee together with the Polish Mineralogical Society is preparing activities aimed at popularizing mineralogical sciences in Poland within the framework of the “2022 - Year of Mineralogy” announced by the International Mineralogical Association.
The sixth volume of the e-Bulletin: mineralogy, petrology, and geochemistry is being edited to be released in June.
The next meeting of the Committee will be held on June 21 at the Institute of Earth Sciences of the University of Silesia in Sosnowiec.

Committee’s working groups activities
In 2021, members of the Committee met three times during the on-line plenary sessions to summarize progress made by the Committee’s working group.
Working group led by prof. Anna Pietranik presented a progress report on the state of mineralogical sciences in Poland. Based on bibliographic database search the following conclusions can be drawn: (1) Polish geochemists, mineralogists, and petrologists increasingly publish results of their work in respected journals and the subjects of their research are in line with world trends; (2) they publish not only in Earth sciences journals but also in journals related to environmental sciences, physics, chemistry, and even social sciences; (3) articles authored or co-authored by Polish mineralogists, petrologists, and geochemists have been increasingly cited by foreign authors, which reflects their scientific relevance.
Working group led by prof. Jan Parafiniuk is preparing a list of Polish mineral names in accord with both Polish spelling rules and IMA rules. The list should be ready by the end of 2022.
